(Guge Institute-Elgin, IL) 2 day Class Making Bird Feet/Mounting ($160)

When I’m teaching a bird class, one of the most frequently asked questions is- How do you make the bird feet and mount the bird to the base? Unfortunately there is never enough time during these classes to show the students how to build the feet. So I have decided to create a class that focuses on this particular subject.

We will cover the intricate process of making the legs and feet as well as mounting the bird. There are several different methods that will be covered in class. Students will learn how to sauder, create a brass armature, and sculpt variety of apoxies. Making feet can be very tedious and frustrating. Having the proper instruction on this process will save you hours of frustration. The purpose of the class is to help you learn the process of making feet and mounting the bird so that over time this process can be perfected.

Students are encouraged to bring in a bird that need feet and to be mounted.

Fee:

$TBD  supply fee per person per project

The supply fee covers: average size cut-outs (bigger sizes will be extra), paint, paint supplies, pattern, reference, glass eyes, cast feet, misc. materials like glue, quickwood.

• Students need to notify the instructor 48 hours before a cancelation of a class. This will give the instructor significant time to prepare for the class. Those that reserve a spot and do not show up for the class, will owe a $10 fee due at the next class.

• Students are responsible to transport their artwork/sculptures to and from class as their will be no storage room available in the studio.

• Deposits are required for classes that cost more than $80.

• Class fees are due at the beginning of each class.
