Learn to carve and paint a ruby-throated hummingbird.

Students will have a choice between a sitting or a flying hummingbird cast. The sitting is more for beginner carvers. The flying is more for intermediate or advanced.
Students will create a full detailed wood carving in four days. All students start with a tupelo wood cut-out.Josh will do a series of demonstrations that will teach students every aspect of carving and painting a realistic bird. Josh will teach his techniques on achieving soft bird like feathers that have made him an award winning sculptor. Josh instructs with power tools. Students are welcome to use knives or other tools if that is what they are comfortable with. There will be three days of carving and one day of painting. A study cast will be provided to use throughout the class and can be purchased at the end if desired. Students that have not finished their piece will be able to paint the study cast.

The class fee is $280 for the four days. The deposit amount to reserve your spot for this class is $140. The deposit needs to be paid by March 1, 2019. The balance of $140 is due by June 1, 2019. All payments are payable to Guge Art Inc., 1963 Diamond Head Trl. Pingree Grove, IL 60140

There will be a $25 material fee which will include wood cut out, eyes, paint, pattern and reference material. The study cast will be provided for use in the class and may be purchased at the end of the class.
